Gun violence kills more children and teens in the U.S. than any other cause — more than car accidents, cancer, or disease.
PUBLIC SAFETY & GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION
★THE CHALLENGE
More than 45,000 Americans die from gun violence every year. Black children are 14× more likely to die from gun violence than white children. Federal action remains stalled while communities bury their kids.
★WHY IT MATTERS
This is a public health emergency and a racial justice crisis. No community should normalize the death of its children.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Universal background checks, red flag laws, community violence intervention funding, gun buyback programs, and accountability for gun manufacturers.
Economic Justice & Wealth Equity
The racial wealth gap means white families hold 7× more wealth than Black families — a gap rooted in policy, not behavior.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE & WEALTH EQUITY
★THE CHALLENGE
The median white family has $171,000 in wealth. The median Black family has $17,600. That gap is the direct result of exclusion from the GI Bill, redlining, wage theft, and wealth extraction across generations.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Economic justice is not charity — it is repair. Without economic equity, there is no democratic equity.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Living wages, reparations, student debt cancellation, equitable small business access, homeownership programs, and wealth-building policy.
Criminal Justice & Legal Reform
The U.S. incarcerates more people than any country in the world — and Black Americans are imprisoned at nearly 5× the rate of white Americans.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & LEGAL REFORM
★THE CHALLENGE
Mass incarceration, cash bail, over-policing, predatory fines and fees, and inadequate public defense devastate Black and Brown families and communities.
★WHY IT MATTERS
A justice system that criminalizes poverty, punishes race, and profits from incarceration cannot be called justice.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Ending cash bail, police accountability, decarceration, re-entry investment, ending the death penalty, and abolishing for-profit prisons.
Democracy & Civil Rights Protection
Since 2020, more than 30 states have passed laws restricting voting access — the most concentrated wave of voter suppression since the Jim Crow era.
DEMOCRACY & CIVIL RIGHTS PROTECTION
★THE CHALLENGE
Voter suppression, gerrymandering, dark money, judicial capture, and attacks on protest rights are accelerating. Democracy is not inevitable — it requires active defense.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Without democracy, there is no mechanism to fix anything else. Democracy is the precondition for justice.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Automatic voter registration, restoring the Voting Rights Act, ending gerrymandering, protecting protest rights, campaign finance reform, and defending equal protection and full civil rights for all, including LGBTQ+ Americans.
Health Equity & Mental Wellness
Black women are 3× more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women, regardless of income or education.
HEALTH EQUITY & MENTAL WELLNESS
★THE CHALLENGE
Black maternal mortality, mental health deserts, uninsured rates, and healthcare debt are not individual failures — they are the outcomes of a deliberately inequitable system.
★WHY IT MATTERS
You cannot advocate, organize, or build power when your body, mind, and family are not cared for.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Universal healthcare, mental health parity, maternal mortality reduction, disability justice, and Medicaid expansion.
Reproductive Rights & Bodily Autonomy
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, more than 20 states have banned or severely restricted abortion access — disproportionately harming Black and low-income women.
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS & BODILY AUTONOMY
★THE CHALLENGE
Abortion bans endanger lives, force people to travel hundreds of miles for care, and concentrate harm on those with the fewest resources.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Bodily autonomy is the foundation of freedom. Reproductive justice is inseparable from racial justice, economic justice, and democratic participation.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Federal codification of reproductive rights, contraception access, emergency care protections, and reproductive healthcare funding.
Education & Workforce Equity
Schools serving predominantly Black and Brown students receive $1,800 less per student per year than schools serving white students.
EDUCATION & WORKFORCE EQUITY
★THE CHALLENGE
Underfunded schools, $1.7 trillion in student debt, discriminatory hiring, and the school-to-prison pipeline trap generations in cycles of exclusion.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Education is power. Workforce equity is survival. Both are prerequisites for civic participation and a functioning democracy.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
School funding equity, student debt cancellation, workforce training investment, anti-discrimination enforcement, and universal pre-K.
Housing Justice & Financial Equity
Black homeownership rates today are lower than they were in 1968 — before the Fair Housing Act passed.
HOUSING JUSTICE & FINANCIAL EQUITY
★THE CHALLENGE
Redlining, predatory lending, discriminatory appraisals, displacement, and landlord exploitation have created a housing crisis that tracks almost perfectly with race.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Stable housing is the foundation of every other outcome — health, education, economic stability, and civic belonging.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Affordable housing investment, anti-displacement protections, reparative homeownership programs, and fair lending enforcement.
Environmental & Energy Justice
Black Americans are 75% more likely to live near polluting industrial facilities than white Americans — not by accident, but by design.
ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY JUSTICE
★THE CHALLENGE
Environmental racism places the worst pollution, flooding risk, climate impacts, and energy insecurity on communities of color. Climate change amplifies every existing inequality.
★WHY IT MATTERS
Environmental justice is racial justice. Climate action without equity is not justice — it is a different kind of extraction.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Clean energy equity, environmental enforcement, climate resilience funding, pollution accountability, and a just transition for affected workers.
Technology, AI & Digital Justice
Facial recognition AI misidentifies Black faces at rates up to 100× higher than white faces — and it is being used by police departments across the country.
TECHNOLOGY, AI & DIGITAL JUSTICE
★THE CHALLENGE
Algorithmic bias, surveillance technology, deepfakes, digital exclusion, and AI-powered discrimination are the civil rights battlegrounds of our time.
★WHY IT MATTERS
The tools that shape our information, our jobs, and our rights must be subject to democratic accountability, equity, and oversight.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
AI accountability legislation, digital access equity, facial recognition bans, data privacy rights, and anti-disinformation policy.
Narrative & Media Justice
Six corporations control 90% of U.S. media — and communities of color are consistently underrepresented, misrepresented, or erased.
NARRATIVE & MEDIA JUSTICE
★THE CHALLENGE
Harmful media frames, disinformation, concentrated ownership, and the algorithmic amplification of division silence justice voices and distort public understanding.
★WHY IT MATTERS
You cannot win policy fights you cannot win narratively. Narrative power and policy power move together.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Media equity investment, anti-disinformation policy, community media support, narrative power training, and platform accountability.
Immigration Justice & Human Rights
The mass detention, deportation, and criminalization of immigrants — including legal residents and documented U.S. citizens — without due process is a constitutional and human rights emergency.
IMMIGRATION JUSTICE & HUMAN RIGHTS
★THE CHALLENGE
ICE enforcement has expanded to target legal permanent residents, asylum seekers, and in documented cases, U.S. citizens. Detention facilities have been described by medical and legal observers as inhumane. Families are being separated. Due process is being denied. People are being deported to countries they have never lived in. Concentration-style detention camps are holding human beings in conditions that violate international law.
★WHY IT MATTERS
America's founding promise — that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process — is being violated at scale. What is done to the most vulnerable among us defines who we are as a democracy. Immigration justice is inseparable from racial justice, civil rights, and human dignity.
★WHAT WE FIGHT FOR
Due process protections for all people on U.S. soil, independent oversight and accountability for detention facilities, an end to family separation, pathways to citizenship, protection of asylum rights under international law, sanctuary protections for immigrant communities, and accountability for ICE abuses.
