Washington, DC, June 19, 2026. On Juneteenth, the day the nation marks the end of slavery, The Advocacy League launches as a national advocacy and mobilization hub with a single mission: move one million people to build power, defend democracy, and make repair real. Founded by national strategist Hannah Naomi Jones, the League is built to meet this moment, a polycrisis in which voting rights, due process, and civil rights are under coordinated attack, and to turn that urgency into organized, durable power.
Juneteenth is the right day to begin, because freedom in this country has always arrived late, and only because people organized to claim it. After the civil rights era, movements fragmented and the ability to mobilize at scale was lost. The Advocacy League concentrates that power again, uniting organizers, educators, faith leaders, artists, and policymakers behind one coordinated front.
The League launches with the infrastructure to turn this moment into action. Civic Ready is a year-round civic-power platform that keeps people registered, informed of their rights, and ready to act, not only at election time. The Action Hub turns urgency into letters, petitions, and direct pressure on decision-makers. The Big 12 Justice and Freedom Agenda names the twelve linked fights the League organizes around, from voting rights and economic justice to health equity, housing, and immigration. And the 28th Amendment lays out a constitutional path to finish Reconstruction and write repair into the nation’s founding law.
Three campaigns are live on day one. Boycott the Southeastern Conference, No Justice, No Games, applies economic leverage to the Supreme Court’s gutting of the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana versus Callais. ICE Out of the Airports demands that immigration enforcement be removed from airport operations, where hundreds of ICE agents have been deployed. And Civic Ready keeps the work going between elections, all year long.
"We do not have to choose which injustice to survive, and we do not have to fight them alone," said Hannah Naomi Jones, Founder of The Advocacy League. "Power is never eradicated. It is only displaced. On Juneteenth, we are gathering it back. Together, we have everything we need."
